Role of TNF-α polymorphism -308 in neurosensory irritation
Fri, 16 Jul 2010 23:00:00 +0100 | International Journal of Cosmetic Science
Neurosensory cutaneous discomfort in response to topical products is common, yet the relationship between symptoms such as stinging and visible irritation is currently unclear. The presence of a polymorphism at position -308 on the TNF-[alpha] gene has been associated with skin irritation, i.e., erythema, dryness. Individuals with a G to A transition (AA/GA genotypes) have a lower threshold to experimentally induced irritation than those with the wild type (G allele, GG genotype). We investigated the effect of this polymorphism on neurosensory irritation (NSI). DNA genotyping was used to determine the allele type amongst a population of health care workers. The neurosensory response to lactic acid and water on the nasolabial folds and hands was assessed using a quantitative lactic acid sti...

What’s Wrong With Your CoQ10?
Mon, 12 Jul 2010 16:00:44 +0100 | Al Sears, MD Natural Remedies
Dear Health Conscious Reader, There may be a big problem with your CoQ10. When you take your CoQ10, you should feel more energy, greater endurance, and quicker, clearer thinking. These benefits are well established.1,2,3 Yet, patients tell me they don’t feel any different with CoQ10. And when they show me their bottle, I immediately know why. Most of the CoQ10 they’re taking never makes it to their cells, where it can do the most good. In fact, most people over 50 have a hard time converting CoQ10 into its usable form. The lion’s share of valuable CoQ10 disappears – making it impossible to give your cells the protection and nourishment they need. Today, I have a way for you to solve this problem. A new, more powerful CoQ10 ensures you maintain healthy levels of CoQ10. Now you can e...
